Top 5 Movie Themes of the '80s
Movies. They wouldn't be as epic and exciting as they could be with out decent music!
One of the best things about watching movies as I grew up in the 1980's was the awesome theme music that a lot of the films had. The theme music, like the movies themselves, used to be an experience when you listened to them back in the day.
Modern movie soundtracks just don't seem to have the same 'punch' that the soundtracks of old had. That's why this list contains both original scores and popular songs from some classic cinematic gems from the decade of the Rubik's Cube!
Give a listen, won't you?!
#5) The theme from "Gremlins"
This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Just had to mention that up front. And while being one of those movies that spans the horror, comedy and Christmas film genres (That's right! Like "Die Hard", it takes places during the Happiest Time of the Year!), "Gremlins" had one of those insanely catchy themes that you cannot help but hum to yourself for days after watching the film.
#4) "Teacher, Teacher" by .38 Special
This was and still is one of my favorite songs from a movie soundtrack. EVER! "Teachers" was one of those 'teachers fighting the system' movies that were so popular during the decade. This song perfectly summed up the story and was done by .38 Special, a band that mixed southern-style rock with arena rock, thus ensuring my love of them to this day!
I still have a copy of the soundtrack to the movie that belonged to my dad, which I still listen to. Because it's awesome.
#3) The theme from "Indiana Jones"
This piece of music is, without a doubt, one of the most recognizable tunes in the history of motion pictures!
Just listening to it makes me want to start searching for a lost tomb or some religious artifact. As long as there are no spiders. I hate spiders, Chuck. I hate them!
#2) "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Junior
Would the movie "Ghostbusters" have been as epic as it was without the golden tones of Ray Parker Junior?
I do not think so.
Does bustin' make me feel good?
......Yes. Yes, it does
And the #1 move theme of the '80s is ......
#1) "The Touch" by Stan Bush
In a movie where Optimus Prime died and Cybertron was nearly obliterated by Orson Welles (he voiced Unicron), we got one the greatest, fist pumping, get-you-fired-up rock anthems of the 1980's. I put "The Touch" above all other movie themes because none of them, not even "Indiana Jones", puts a spring in my step and fire in my gut the way this song does.
It is not a perfect song, by any means. But for 'sheer rocking out and making you feel good' music, you'd be hard pressed to find one better!!
