Imagi Studios, the production company that brought us the 2007 CGI "TMNT" film, made this trailer for a proposed "Gatchman/Battle of the Planets" computer animated movie. Based on the classic anime "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" of the late '70s and early '80s, it follows the adventures of a team of 5 genetically altered orphans who wage a battle against the forces of Spectra, an alien race seeking to take over Earth. So, basically it's "5 teenagers with attitudes" fighting space aliens WAY before the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers ever did. Imagi Studios is in a weird place right now. While their Los Angeles production offices are closed, various websites report the film is still on schedule to open in 2011.
God, I hope the film does get released because that animation looks SOOOOOO good! It would be a crying shame if this doesn't get released at all!
