Another Hollywood Re-make To Ruin '80s Childhoods Everywhere

Here's one to make your milk curdle. Platinum Dunes (the production company of Michael Bay, lover of explosions and bigger explosions) is gearing up to re-make "The Monster Squad". Brad Fuller, one of the company's founders, said in an interview on Shocktilyoudrop.com that

"We're definitely using the original film as a blueprint and love the fun parts of it. We have three or four different takes, some stick closely to the original - others are going to be a bit different. It's about sitting down with Rob Cohen and the studio and figuring out which storyline we're going to go with. But I can tell you all of the story lines, whereas Friday the 13thisn't like the original, this will be close to the original. It's about a group of kids who have a monster squad, monsters come to their town and they've got to figure it out."

Why in the name of all that's right and pure about movies from the '80s (the last great decade of the motion picture, in my opinion anyway) does Hollywood feel it is this @#*&%$#-ing necessary to rape & pillage my childhood like this?!? Excuse me, I am going to lie down before I have an aneurysm or something.
