Tim Burton & Friends To Make New 'Addams Family' or "They're Back!"

Tim Burton, the man behind "The Nightmare before Christmas", is re-teaming with the writers of the Johnny Depp movie, "Ed Wood", to produce a new film based on -- Da Da Da Da, Snap Snap -- "The Addams Family"!

Burton's take will focus more on the slightly more macabre humor and dark themes of the original comic strips that ran in the "New Yorker" magazine from 1938 until artist Charles Addams' death in 1988, rather than the '60s TV series and the '90s film adaptation. The main thing with this new film is that it is going to be done in stop-motion animation, a style of animation that Tim Burton is very fond of. One of his first projects in this format was "Vincent",  a short film about a delusional young boy, obsessed with the works of Edgar Allen Poe. Click here if you want to check it out!

I have to say I am really looking forward to this film! I am a fan of Burton's dark film style and his work on "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", "Beetlejuice" and "Batman '89" are among some of my favorite movies. But who ever voices Gomez in the new film will have to follow in the footsteps of John Astin and Raul Julia. These two men really brought a lot of passion and charisma to the character of Gomez Addams, who is my favorite member of the Addams Family! Yes, even more than Uncle Fester!

Unfortunately, there will be a bit of a wait for the film. Due to the lengthy filming process of stop-motion animation, "The Addams Family" will not be hitting the screen until sometime in 2014. I sure hope it's worth the wait!

And now, for a little something we're all thinking about.....
